3M™ Grouping Software

3M™ Core Grouping Software (CGS) version 2 replaces the Windows Interactive/Batch grouper as a user friendly, PC based programme that operates in either a Windows or Java environment. This allows the grouping of all ICD-10-AM/ACHI coded data into any version of Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRG). Patient episodes can be grouped interactively one at a time, or in a batch.

In the Interactive programme, records are grouped one at a time using a windows interface. The programme quickly returns MDCs, DRGs, grouper-return codes, and code validation flags on the patient records. Interactive output is written to an output report that can be printed or saved to a file.

In batch processing, records are formatted and "batched" into a single file and run through a grouping program. The program returns MDCs, DRGs, grouper-return codes, norm values, and code validation flags (at the DRG-level) for each patient record. The batch program can be run from a Windows interface or from the command line. Output can be written to an upload file, an output report file, and an audit file, all of which can be saved and/or printed.

3M™ Grouper Plus System Software (GPS) replaces the Windows COM-DLL grouper offering a Java based, platform independent embedded solution to add value to existing software applications. GPS utilises common application program interface (API) methods to pass and retrieve data for demographic and clinical needs. Using Java archive (JAR) components, you may embed the GPS into your own application. This gives you the ability to provide up-to-date DRG reporting for healthcare providers, health funds and state health departments.

The Grouper Plus System now has expanded the supported platforms to non-Windows environments (e.g. Linux, native UNIX) where Java run-time-environment (JRE v1.6 and above) is supported to offer the same capability as our previous COM-DLL grouper. For Windows based clients, GPS also includes a JNI wrapper that will allow you to integrate the grouper in native Windows development languages.

This latest release by 3M Health Information Systems in the 3M™ Grouping Software incorporates all ICD-10-AM Editions (1st to 8th Edition) and AR-DRG Grouper versions (Version 4.1 to 7.0). All relevant forward and backwards mapping is incorporated in the software to enable coding in later or earlier editions of ICD-10-AM than the DRG version.
