The Importance of 3 Point Validation

Thermistors are a typical sensor of choice in temperature data recording devices. However, thermistors (and some thermocouples) are known to have a non-linear response over a given temperature range.

All 3M™ TL20 Temperature Loggers undergo a 3 point temperature validation process. This gives you confidence to know each unit is fully tested and performs with accuracy over the specified temperature range. All 3M™ TL20 Temperature Loggers are tested in a certified ISO 17025 facility for 3 point temperature accuracy at -10°C, +10°C and +50°C. The test equipment utilized in the accuracy validation procedure is certified as traceable in accordance to international standards.

3M recommends that your Standard Operating Procedure call for the replacement of these devices 12 months after the validation date recorded on the 3M™ TL20 Temperature Logger.
